Location and How to Get There
The Da Nang Immigration Office is located at 7 Trần Quý Cáp, Hải Châu, in the city centre. It's a short 10-minute taxi or Grab ride from Da Nang International Airport, and about 15 minutes from the main beach area (Mỹ Khê / Bắc Mỹ An).
If you're staying near the city centre or the Hàn River, the office is within walking distance — about 20 minutes from the Dragon Bridge. GrabBike is also a popular option for around 15,000–25,000 VND depending on your location.
By taxi: Tell the driver "7 Trần Quý Cáp" or show them the Vietnamese address. Taxis from the airport should cost around 50,000–80,000 VND. Always use trusted companies like Mai Linh or Vinasun.
By motorbike: There's limited street parking near the office. A parking attendant usually watches bikes for a small fee (5,000–10,000 VND).
What to Bring
When visiting the Da Nang Immigration Office, bring the following documents to avoid multiple trips:
- Passport (original + colour copy of the photo page and current visa)
- Passport photos (4cm × 6cm, white background — at least 2 copies)
- Completed application forms (available at the office or from your visa agent)
- Proof of address in Da Nang (hotel booking confirmation or rental contract)
- Cash (USD or VND — the office typically charges in VND but may accept USD)
If you're using NamVisa for visa extension or overstay help, we'll prepare the forms for you. Just bring your passport and photos, and we'll handle the paperwork.
Services Available at Da Nang Immigration
Visa Extension
Da Nang Immigration processes visa extensions for most nationalities. Standard processing takes 5–7 working days, though expedited options are available in some cases. The cost depends on the length of extension and your nationality. Many digital nomads and long-term travellers in Da Nang use this service regularly.
Visa Renewal
If you're switching visa types (for example, from a tourist visa to a business visa), this must be done at the immigration office. Process time is typically 7–10 working days.
Overstay Processing
If you've overstayed your visa, you must visit the immigration office in person. Fines are calculated per day overstayed. The Da Nang office is known for being more lenient than HCMC or Hanoi, especially for shorter overstays. See our overstay help page for more details.
Temporary Residence Registration
If you're staying in Da Nang long-term, your hotel or landlord should register your temporary residence within 24 hours of arrival. If they haven't, you can sort this out at the immigration office.
Da Nang vs. Other Cities: What's Different
Da Nang's immigration office is significantly less busy than the HCMC office (196 Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai) or the Hanoi office (40A Hàng Bài). This usually means:
- Shorter wait times — often 30 minutes vs. 2–3 hours in HCMC
- Friendlier staff — many officers speak basic English
- Faster processing — some extensions are processed in 3–5 days instead of 5–7
- More flexibility — the smaller office can sometimes accommodate urgent requests
This makes Da Nang one of the best cities in Vietnam for handling visa matters, especially for digital nomads, expats, and long-term travellers.
Nearby Hotels and Amenities
If you need to stay overnight while waiting for visa processing, these hotels are within walking distance of the immigration office:
- Minh Toàn Galaxy Hotel — 3-star, ~500,000 VND/night, 5-minute walk
- Đà Nẵng Hotel — 2-star budget option, ~300,000 VND/night
- Hải Châu Hotel — basic accommodation, ~200,000 VND/night
There are also several cafes and phở shops on Trần Quý Cáp and surrounding streets where you can wait comfortably.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Coming after 3:00 PM — processing stops at 4:30 PM but they stop accepting new applications earlier. Arrive before 2:00 PM to be safe.
- Not bringing photocopies — there's a photocopy shop nearby but it's better to come prepared.
- Going on a public holiday — check the Vietnamese holiday calendar before visiting. The office is closed on all public holidays.
- Waiting until the last day — if your visa expires Friday, don't come Thursday. Start the process at least a week before expiry.
